Hanuma Vihari, the middle-order batsman, has decided to part ways with the Andhra Cricket Association and join the Hyderabad Cricket Association. He made his first-class debut for Hyderabad versus Jharkhand in the 2011-12 domestic season and showed some promise in the game against Madhya Pradesh, finishing with a 150-ball 81.
In the very next season, he came into the limelight by compiling a 331-ball 191 versus Mumbai. He also strung together a mammoth stand of 386 with Akshath Reddy to help Hyderabad take a sizeable first-innings lead. In the 2016-17 season, he decided to shift base to Andhra.
He has scored over 7000 first-class runs and at an impressive average of 55.00. His highest score of 302 not out in first-class cricket came against Odisha in the 2017-18 domestic season. The right-handed batsman has also captained the Andhra side. Lasith Malinga retires from international cricket.
Ranji trophy to start January 22′.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to start the Ranji Trophy on January 13. After a five-day quarantine and two-day practice, the teams, divided into six groups, will play their matches in Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, and Chennai.
Kolkata has been reserved for the knockouts which are scheduled to start on February 20 after another round of five-day quarantine. The five-day quarter-finals are from February 28 to March 3 and the semi-finals will be from March 8 to 12. The final has been scheduled for March 16-20.
Herwadkar leaves Mumbai and Sheldon Jacson returns to Saurashtra.
Akhil Herwadkar, the left-handed opener who made his first-class debut in 2011, has decided to leave Mumbai after not being considered in the list of probable announced for a pre-season camp by the Mumbai Cricket Association. Meanwhile, domestic veteran Sheldon Jackson has decided to return to Saurashtra after having spent a year with Puducherry as a professional.
Odisha appoints Wasim Jaffer as head coach for two seasons.
Wasim Jaffer has penned a two-year deal for the position of head coach with Odisha. The former India opener will take over from Rashmi Parida, who held the position for two years. Jaffer has previously served as the head coach of Uttarakhand after his retirement in March 2020. He also works as the batting coach with Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League.
“Besides the development of cricket across all age groups, he [Jaffer] will also be a part of coaches development programme across the state,” Odisha Cricket Association secretary Sanjay Behera said. Cricbuzz provided info.
