The Houston Rockets appear to be going in a direction that favors developing all of the young talents they have on the roster. This became more clear earlier this week when it was reported that John Wall and the team are working on a trade to send him to a new destination.
Rockets open to trade Gordon as well.
According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, Eric Gordon is open to trade as well. While he hasn’t requested a trade, he is open to moving to a more favorable situation if it were to present itself.
Gordon played in 37 games last season, averaging 17.8 points per contest on 32.9 percent shooting from deep. A lethal scorer off the bench or as a stater, he has the ability to really increase the ceiling of a playoff contender.
This all makes sense, as Gordon doesn’t really fit the timeline of the Rockets. They’re giving the keys to Jalen Green, who will only end up competing with Gordon for minutes as a rookie and going forward.
Isaiah Thomas to work out with Warriors next week.
Just a few years ago, Isaiah Thomas was one of the best point guards in the entire NBA. After an incredible playoff run with the Celtics, he’s struggled with injuries and hasn’t been able to find the right situation to become a consistent NBA player again.
As he continues to attempt a comeback to the NBA for the upcoming season, Thomas has been working out for several teams, including the Dallas Mavericks. Up next on his list is the Golden State Warriors, who will be working him out next week according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
While Thomas played in three games for the New Orleans Pelicans last season, the last significant playing time he got was with the Washington Wizards during the 2019-20 season. Through 40 games with the Wizards, he actually started in 37 of them while averaging 12.2 points and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 41.3 percent from deep.
In his career, Thomas has averaged 18.1 points and 4.9 assists per game. Still just 32 years old, he has what it takes to be a solid role player for a team this season. If it ends up being in Golden State, he’d provide a real scoring punch off the bench.
