IND vs SL 1st T20: Suryakumar Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shine as India takes the 1st T20. Bad performance from the Srilankan batsmen. It was a horrible show except for Charith Asalanka. India took the ODI series 2-1.
Srilanka won the toss and they decided to ball first.
Line Ups:
India: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan(wk), Hardik Pandya, Buvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Sanju Samson, Varun Chakravarthy.

1sr Innings: Srilanka used the toss advantage well to stop India at 164/5.
Dushmantha Chameera’s first ball was swinging and very full in length. Prithvi Shaw(0 of 1) has missed the swing and edges the ball to the keeper. He was gone golden duck. Great start for Srilanka. It was a calm start from India.
Sanju Samson looked like out in 5th over. Tried to drive the ball on the up and was caught at short cover. But was given not out when 3rd umpire saw the reply of the ball bouncing off the ground just before going to the fielder. Great reaction from the fielder indeed. The last over of the powerplay gave India 16 runs to complete their 51 in the powerplay.
However, the first ball after the powerplay Hasaranga LBWed Sanju(27runs from 20 balls) with his googly. It was a beautiful delivery. Suryakumar Yadav started the innings with confidence. He was striking very well and scoring quick runs. While on the other end Shikhar Dhawan was playing the anchor’s role.
India took the charge and accelerated.
Indian innings accelerated in the 12th over. Taking on Akila Dhananjaya. The first ball of the 15th over Dhawan(46 runs off 36 balls, 4(4) 1(6)) while pulling the ball found Ashen Bandara at the square leg boundary. India was 113/3. Suryakumar Yadav was scoring at a good run rate for India.
Suryakumar Yadav got his 50 in style with a six down the ground. He tried again on the second ball but towered the ball towards long-off. India was 127/4. Ishan Kishan showed that it’s his format. Hardik Pandya(10 runs from 12 balls) again disappoints with his poor form. Chameera struck again with another caught behind on a fuller Yorker length ball. India was 10 runs short of their target I think.
Chameera and Hasaranga were both very effective with the figures of 4-0-24-2 and 4-0-28-2 respectively. Karunaratne took 1 wicket giving 34 runs in 4 overs as well.
2nd Innings: Srilanka’s batting collapsed under pressure.
Srilankan’s innings started with plenty of luck. The first ball edged over the slips to the boundary and a dropped catch from Hardik Pandya. Krunal Pandya finally struck for India. Taking Minod Bhanuka’s(10 runs from 7 balls) wicket at the cover. Srilankan innings were held to 7 runs per over after the wicket.
Yuzvendra Chahal bowled Dhananjaya de Silva(9 runs from 10 balls) on his 2nd ball. Silva missed the line completely getting his body open on the leg side. A perfect bowling change from India. Bringing Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the 8th over. He cramped Avishka Fernando(26 runs from 23 balls, 3(4)), who was trying to make space, bowling the body. Fernando pulled the ball and was caught well inside the boundary.
Charith Asalanka came to the crease and welcomed Hardik Pandya with a six on the first ball. Srilanka were 64/3 after 10 overs. Needing another 100 from 10 overs. Watching Asalanka play increased Srilanka’s hope to come close to the target. He was batting magnificently well.
Asalanka was not getting the support from other end. Ashen Bandara(9 runs from 19 balls) was batting very slow. Hardik Pandya bowled him to get his first wicket. Asalanka however, was targeting the spinners hitting sixes on the leg side with pure timing. Deepak Chahar was introduced into the attack and his slower ball did the trick getting Asalanka(44 runs from 26 balls, 3(4) 3(6)) to pull the ball towards the deep mid-wicket region. Only finding the safe hands of Prithvi Shaw.
Srilanka lost 5 wickets in 15 runs after Asalanka’s wicket. A quick collapse at the end meant victory for team India by 38 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was excellent with 3.3-0-22-4. Deepak Chahar was also very good with 3-0-24-2. Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Varun Chakravarti, Yuzvendra chahal got 1 wicket each.
