Ashes 2021: David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne.

Ashes 2021, England’s tour of Australia: A batting scorecard you would want to look at. Australia fired hard to slide in the driving seat in the second test.

David Warner missed the century again. An early breakthrough for England as Marcus Haris fails to get a start. It was Stuart Broad with an absolute flying catch from Jos Butler.

The next partnership would be crucial for both sides. Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner combined for 172 runs thus putting the Australian dressing room at ease.

The centurion just got a chance from a dropped catch by Jos Buttler before reaching his century. He could, however, not make most of it, with a foolish leave that trapped him in front.

When Labuschange got out in the 98th over, Australia were well settled at 241 and aiming again a nice first-innings lead. Another player getting a chance to get to his century but could not.

As a result of Pat Cummins being injured, Steve Smith is captaining the side. Leading from the front, the skipper played a vital inning in reaching that imaginary score of 400.

Just as it looked like after Travis Head‘s wicket that will rip apart the tail, Alex Carey reached a half-century. Two lightning cameos from Mitchell Starc and Michael Neser brought Australia well past 450 runs.

Ben Stokes picked up three wickets with an economy of 4.52. He was not at his best but still did enough to help England. Anderson as always was outstanding giving only 58 runs in 29 overs with 10 maidens. All that with two wickets to his name.

All the remaining bowlers picked up one wicket each. Broad, Woakes, Robinson, and Root were the bowlers used.

The problem for England is their approach. Root being a good decision maker has failed to punch on the opportunity. At times England looked passive with the field placement.

The fielders are letting down the team. Hoping for a draw if England reaches around 425 runs. and also they stop Australia from playing a T20 game in the second innings.
