Cádiz vs Barcelona: The 26 times LaLiga winners were held off for a 0-0 draw by the 14th placed, Cádiz. Barcelona were a man down when Frenkie de Jong was sent off in the 65th minute.
Barcelona has now failed to win a game against Cádiz in the last 3 games. While they have failed to win six matches of their last nine LaLiga matches.
Koeman lined up his side with the standard 4-3-3 with Lukk de Jong at the top and Depay and Demir a the wings. Against that, the host had a classic 4-4-2 set up. With both strikers a little bit wider than usual.
A 17-years-old Spaniard, Gavi, started as the Left Mid for Barcelona. He is the fifth teen to start for Barca in a calendar year.
Nothing was happening between the two sides as they were giving one other possession. Barcelona passed around a lot but that’s it.
Thankfully, things changed after the break. Alvaro Negredo came close with a shot from range before Memphis Depay missed a sitter just a few minutes into the half, and both sides continued to look like they actually wanted to have some fun for once.
A match did open up for Cádiz when Frenkie de Jong was sent off. Jong slides into Espino to salvage a loose touch but missing it horribly.
Cadiz push hard against a 10 men Barca to win the match and also did create a handful of chances but Ter Stegen was rock solid preventing the winner.
Ending the match, Barcelona’s manager Ronald Koeman was sent to the stands for constant protests of the referee’s decisions. Which put the salt on the wounds for Barcelona.
The backline for Barca was superb as Ter Stegen, Pique, and Ronald Araujo denied Cadiz’s every attack. midfield and Frontline was a black sheet, putting minimal pressure on the Cadiz backline.
