CSK vs KKR final: CSK dismantles KKR to become the champion

CSK vs KKR final: CSK champions

CSK vs KKR final 2021: In a high voltage finals fixture between CSK and KKR, Dhoni brigade emerges victorious beating KKR by 27 runs. With this addition, CSK has covered some ground and are now just one title away from MI’s five.

This season’s orange cap goes to Ruturaj Gaikwad who smashed 635 runs at an average of 45.35 and a strike rate of 136.26. Being behind Rahul at the start of the match he quickly ran past him to claim the cap.

Continuing his last match’s performance, Sunil Narine picked up the Orange cap winner who was trying to go big along the ground. Picking another wicket of Robin Uthappa, who attacked KKR like it was his last IPL match, trapping him LBW sweeping the ball.

It was then Fabulous Faf all along. His innings included some marvelous shots which got him 7 fours and 3 sixes. His innings really defined Chennai’s triumph to a huge score. Falling well short of his century, Faf de Plessis was out on the last ball of the innings. Looking to finish their innings on a high note but Iyer was waiting to catch him at the long-on region.

Shivam Mavi bowled a very good last over, giving away only a handful of runs while restricting CSK under 200 runs. Picking up only one wicket and that too on the last delivery.

When Uthappa departed in the 15th over, KKR looked keen to thrive a comeback. However, Moeen Ali came and wreaked havoc in the middle hitting sixes even to a good ball. His contribution was crucial for CSK when we look at KKR’s batting strength.

The mysterious Varun Chakravarthy had a disturbing night as he was unsuccessful with the ball. His mystery seemed like being solved from CSK’s glowing momentum.

The match winners till now for KKR were off-color during their chase. Till now they have been chasing a respectable but small score and that too with some hiccups.

Lord Shardul was destructive in his bowling getting rid of three of Kolkata’s batters, including well-set opener Venkatesh Iyer. Also giving a golden duck to Nitish Rana while stopping Rahul Tripathi in tracks later in the innings.

before Shardul’s match-turning wicket, KKR openers were hammering hard on CSK. Venkatesh Iyer in particular was rubbing the spinners very roughly. They set a 91 runs partnership between themselves in 11 overs.

One brings two and two brings three, that’s what happened to KKR. After Iyer and Rana, Hazlewood got the better of Narine while Deepak Chahar got hold of Shubman Gill just past 50.

The Kolkata skipper, Eoin Morgan was off for the whole IPL. Unbale to perform upon his name looked rusty again. A nice piece of work at the boundary by Deepak Chahar and well bowled by Josh Hazlewood to get rid of Morgan. Hazlewood’s spell was amazing swallowing two KKR batter in his dinner.

Before Morgan’s wicket, Ravindra Jadeja just tore down KKR’s batting with two wickets in balls. First, was Karthik caught at deep square leg, and then Shakib trapped in front of the wicket. His fielding was up to the mark as well, taking a nice boundary catch of Narine while holding off a blinder of Iyer.

Two entertaining cameos at the end from Shivam Mavi and Lockie Ferguson put a smile on the faces of the fans.

CSK vs KKR final: post match presentation.

Moeen Ali:

“I am feeling amazing and can’t describe it in words. Gaikwad is an amazing player and he is so calm and I hope that he will represent India in the future. Dhoni is brilliant in his captaincy and the way he backed me was creditable. You cannot buy experience and it’s a great team to be part of.”

Robin Uthappa:

“I am grateful to be here. It was a lean last season for us and it was important to play well in 2021. I just wanted to contribute to the team’s success and wanted to take advantage of the start in this game. Chennai has a secured atmosphere in the group and there is clarity of thoughts which is very important. It feels like the players not playing in the XI are creating the atmosphere.”

Faf du Plessis:

“I am really grateful and feeling proud of what we have achieved this season. It was a great day and it was my 100th game in the IPL which makes it even more special. I loved my time with Chennai and it’s a great place to play cricket. Gaikwad is a special talent and Indian cricket is blessed to have him. He has also got a great head on his shoulders, he is humble and has a super bright future.”

Eoin Morgan:

“I am extremely proud of the fight we showed throughout the tournament. Our character epitomizes Kolkata’s values and am very happy with the support from the management. I would also like to thank the fans as well for the support they showed throughout. We have been outstanding in the opening department and Gill is a classy player and Iyer is a good find and he has a good head on his shoulders. Rahul, unfortunately, pocked up an injury in this game but he gave it his all in the last couple of games.”

MS Dhoni:

“Kolkata bounced back really well and I feel that the break really helped them. We shuffled a few players and it was important to define responsibilities. Every final is special and looking t the stats, you can also say they are the most consistent team that loses in the final, but in those games, there were moments that we lost. This was something we made a conscious effort to improve on. I hope CSK will keep working hard in the future as well. We didn’t talk a lot and it was more about one-on-one sessions. The moment you get into a team room, the pressure starts to build. The practice sessions have been brilliant where we have communicated with boys. Thank you to all the fans and this is something you crave as a cricketer. I hope that the next season we will go back to Chepauk. I am not sure I have left my legacy behind just yet.”
