Roger Federer smoothly passed the Lorenzo Sonego test in the round-of-16. His arch-rival Novak Djokovic also advanced into the quarterfinals winning his draw against Cristian Garín. Both of them looked likely to be the favorites to advance in the upcoming round as well.
Federer started the match with some unforced errors. But eventually breaking the young Italian’s serve to take the set. Set 2 started in the same fashion as well but Federer with a bit of authority taking slowly but steadily the control of the set. set 3 was a bit disappointed for the Italian player as Federer cruised past him like a hot knife on butter.
Novak also started the match with both players looking to conquer each other. Novak, as is, broke his opponent’s serve early and won the first set 6-2. In the 2nd set, Cristian showed some fight but it was not enough to stop Novak as he took the 3rd set with 6-4. 3th set was like a replay of the first one with a similar scoreline of 6-2, walking past Cristian like he is nothing for him. Novak Djokovic is the hot favorite to win the tournament.
