RR MI, IPL 2021: Ishan Kishan returning to form giving MI a crucial win on RR to stay alive for the playoffs. MI pacers rock Royals on a tricky surface to bat on.
RR batting collapses.
MI pace attack was fast and accurate in their outing against the Royals. Although, starting as usual to the innings with Lewis and Jaiswal in touch, the middle order failed to drag that momentum any further.
The ball was not bouncing as much as expected by every batter for RR looked stunned not taking anything from their previous wickets.
After the captain’s departure from the crease, RR were down in the dumps. Every batter just came and go. MI bowlers had to just aim at the stumps and a wicket was guaranteed.
Some resistance was shown by Rahul Tewatia and experienced South African campaigner David Miller but MI broke open them in no time. It was a confidence-breaking display from RR, having finished their innings with 90 runs on board.
Ishan Kishan lay down the law on RR.
RR hoping to do the similar thing which MI just did to them. Quinton de Kock was rested and Ishan Kishan opened the innings with Rohit Sharma. Their intent was clear, go after every ball to finish the game as soon as possible.
The situation for Rajasthan Royals gone bad to worse when Sanju Samson missed the stumping of Rohit Sharma. Opportunity goes begging for RR, defending a small target while failing to subsidize the chances will definitely result in an unpleasant situation.
Pitch was tricky indeed as Rohit Sharma was caught off guarded by Chetan Sakariya whose delivery climbed high. Damage was minimized but done by the MI skipper.
It was Kishan’s night after his first boundary. He was in no mood to respect anyone, destroying with his power and building with his placement. With a strike rate of 200, he reached his 50 with a six at the mid-wicket region to finish the match.

What do the Points table tells after RR MI?
KKR and MI are tied at 12 points while PBKS and RR are tied at 10 points.
If one of the two with 12 points wins and the other loses then they will surely move ahead.
However, if both win Net Run rate will come to play.
If by chance, both of them lose and PBKS and/or RR wins Net Run Rate will be the key factor.
SRH has the power to make or break the league by committing an upset over MI.
It’s fairly simple, If MI qualifies, they will be unstoppable even for CSK.
RR MI post match presentation.
Sanju Samson.
“It was challenging wicket to bat on, especially in the first innings and it was very different from Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Abu Dhabi was one of the best batting wickets but at Sharjah, it was tough. We would like to take some time off and we’ll try to play better in their last game. MI came out strong and they batted really well.”
Rohit Sharma.
“We had to come here and play a good game as we wanted those 2 points. It was important for us to come out and bat freely at least at the start of the innings and we did so. We wanted Ishan Kishan to take his time and I did not tell anything to him when we were in the middle. We have been on and off in this season but our team came back strongly in this match, credit to them. Kolkata’s game is before our game so things would be pretty clear for us.”
Ishan Kishan.
“It is good to get runs for the team. I am feeling really good. I think that it was good to field first as we got an idea about how to play on this wicket. We planned to play straight and we executed really well. I feel ups and downs are a big part of life for any sportsman and we have a great supporting staff too. I had a chat with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya and they have been really supportive. We have been talking about Kolkata losing their next match but we need to play with the same energy in their last game.”
