Premier League: Arsenal secures their third win on the bounce in the Premier League with a 4-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.
Arsenal remains in the top four following their win, while Leeds are five points clear of the relegation zone in 16th place.
Arsenal seemed to have regained confidence and Morale to finish their campaign in the top 4. The match looked at 1 side from the beginning. Leeds had some fantastic chances in the start but then Arsenal took over the match.
Martinelli pounced on a loose ball at the 16th minute in the Leeds box and blasted his right-footed strike into the top-right corner. Leeds lost possession in their own half and Saka broke towards the penalty area. He offloaded to Lacazette, who tried to find Xhaka on the charge.
The midfielder went down under pressure from Klich and Forshaw took possession. However, Lacazette came in with a challenge before Martinelli was alive to the loose ball to fire home.
The White were cut open with ease once again in the 28th minute of the game and Martinelli punished the hosts with a neat finish. Leeds lost possession in the middle of the park and Xhaka exposed them with an incisive through ball to release the Brazilian. He surged away from Drameh before clipping a strike over Meslier into the back of the net.
It was Saka who broke the confidence before the halftime whistle by scoring the 3rd for the team. Leeds were once again cut open at the back and Saka’s strike was deflected past Meslier. Saka was afforded space down the left flank and he cut his way across the edge of the box.
The Whites try to halt his progress, but couldn’t force the ball away from him. The England man eventually pulled the trigger and it deflected off Ayling into the bottom-left corner.
Ben white gave a free penalty to the whites as Gelhardt surged into the left-inside channel after latching on to Klich’s offload. White lunged in with a poor challenge and brings down the forward. The referee pointed to the spot.
Leeds had something to work on within the final 15 minutes as the Brazilian converted from the spot. Raphinha fired his effort high into the top-left corner giving Ramsdale no chance.
Having a great season Smith Rowe scored again coming off the bench. The midfielder smashed a strike home on the half-volley after latching on to Odegaard’s offload. Arsenal broke with pace and Odegaard spotted the run of Smith Rowe through the middle. He placed his pass through to perfection before Smith Rowe applies the finish, burying his effort past Meslier.
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last seven away games against Leeds in all competitions (W5 D2), with four of those victories coming via a 4-1 scoreline.
Leeds have just 16 points from their 18 Premier League games this season, the joint-fewest they’ve ever earned at this stage of a league campaign in their history (converting to three points per win all-time), level with 2006-07 in the Championship.
Arsenal had 11 shots on target in the first half – the most on record (since 2003-04) of any side in the opening 45 minutes in a single match in the Premier League.
