Ashes 2021, 2nd Test, Australia vs England: Jhye Richardson’s five-wicket haul on debut Test was a stellar show. England could not handle the pressure from the Host, thus losing by 275 runs.
What could have been a good match ended in Australia‘s favor without any complications. Taking a massive target of 468 runs to win the Test match, visitors were on their heels pretty much on every ball.
Ashes 2021: Australia turns Gold to whatever they do.
The debut of Jhye Richardson and Michael Neser was fabulous. Picking a five-wicket haul in the second innings, Richardson impressed everyone.
Cleaning up the openers, and thrashing the lower middle order completely, he was breathing fire. A lucky wicket of Jos Buttler came his way when Jos was hit wicket. That was the smell of the win for Australia.
Whatever Australia is trying is having a positive impact. Their plans are executing nicely and are getting the results too.
Ashes 2021: England needs batter to play a bit aggresive.
Looks like a totally passive approach from the England side especially in the batting department. You look at the batting and say why aren’t they scoring runs.
Being submissive against the host as dominant as Australia will make you suffer a lot. Their best batter being their skipper Joe Root and Dawid Malan are consistent but others need to stand up.
Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Ollie Pope, Haseeb Hameed, all need to wake up and start scoring runs. Otherwise, it will be an embarrassing end to the series.
Ashes 2021: Catches win matches and England should remember that.
A lot of drop catches are seen in the match, especially when England are bowling. Some screamers behind the wicket and some easy ones being dropped, Jos Buttler is not at his best.
Slip-catching is also an issue for England. On the contrary, Australia are a wall in the slips. Steve Smith, Labuschagne, Warner, Cameron Green all are taking catches worth a watch.
2nd Test, as it happened in the fourth inning.
Jhye Richardson grabs Haseeb Hameed in his first over for a duck. Just what England would want to avoid. Then a decent partnership between Burns and Malan.
Micheal Neser then makes the ball move into the pads of Malan and he is trapped in the crease. A chance for Malan to make most of the dropped catch in the previous over went begging.
22 runs later, Richardson takes Burns edge and he goes back too. Both openers depart. Mitchell Starc bowling round the wicket to Joe Root gets the ball to angle back into the pads. He stays on the crease and he is hit on the lower abdominal or on the Abdo guard to be precise.
Not long after that Australia breaks the spine by dismissing Root. Starc with the terror this time too. Root after that hit started to fear a bit and it was held accountable for his bat being pushed towards the ball.
It was then Lyon and Richardson’s show. Lyon picked up two while Jhye picked up three completing his fifer. Starc finished with two wickets and Neser with 1.
