CSK Vs PBKS 2021: A little hope for PBKS to qualify for the playoff as a win over CSK brings their NRR over MI. A fiery performance from the skipper burns CSK alive.
The base created from Faf du Plesis remained fresh because of Chennai’s middle and lower order with unsatisfactory performance. No other batter from Dhoni-led side could get along well. Plesis contribution became vital in setting a defendable score.
For PBKS, Chris Jordan playing his first match in the UAE phase peeled off CSK’s skin from his extraordinary spell. Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa were the victims.
A small and healthy push from Jadeja made them smile a bit reaching 134 runs. MS Dhoni looks totally out of sync as his struggles continue to haunt.
The youngsters to look out for are Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi. Bowling exceptionally well with maturity whenever they are handed the ball. Arshdeep played a vital role in picking dangerous Ruturaj and then Moeen Ali inside the powerplay.
The intent was clear from the Kings, improving their NRR for even a little chance for qualification. Their intent paid dividends as saying goes luck favours the brave.
The start was unintentional because Lord Shardul gave two successive blows in the form of Mayank and Sarfaraz. Thakur is certainly a man who has improved the most compared to any other player in recent times.
There was stress in the PBKS dugout with the falling wickets but on another side, KL Rahul was pounding CSK brutally. Finishing just two runs short of a century, his knock included 8 sixes and 7 fours. Watching KL play is so satisfying.
CSK bowling unit got the beating of their lifetime with Deepak Chahar and Bravo were punished mercilessly. Dwayne Bravo’s birthday turned out horrible.
Winning the match with a maximum towards the mid-wicket boundary via a pull, KL Rahul grabs the man of the match. With this, although it is unlikely to drop the other results in PBKS favour but hey who knows.
CSK vs PBKS 2021: post match presentation.
“We have to cope up at the mental level. We played good cricket to reach this position in the tournament. We have lost a few games but this is a part and parcel of a tournament like this one and we need to fine-tune our preparation a bit. It is not the factor(Motivation) and guys are highly motivated. It would have looked worse if they have batted first after the toss. The pitch changed a bit in the second innings but it was a good one yet challenging.”
“It was really hot and our plan was simple. We were told about a few permutations and combinations and the plan was to chase the target before 14 overs. I am glad that it came off for me in this match and also I had the license to go. I had complete clarity of what he wanted to do. I know my role in the team and I don’t want to let my team down by playing how I want. You can hit every ball when you are in the zone but it’s important to hold your shape and that’s the only thing I keep on reminding myself. There is no better feeling than hitting the ball from the middle of the bat.”
