Premier League 2021, Liverpool vs Newcastle United: Liverpool came from behind to secure a 3-1 win over Newcastle United in their Premier League clash at Anfield. Liverpool are now close within a point of Manchester City at the top of the table, while Newcastle remains 19th.

Liverpool without a Doubt had an upper hand in the Match yesterday. Keeping 75% for themselves they tried their luck at goal 23 times and found 8 of them on target.

Surprisingly the first goal was scored by the Magpies in the 8th minute of the match. Fraser clipped a cross into the box that Thiago steered straight into the path of Shelvey. The midfielder lined up a strike on his right foot that bent away from Alisson into the bottom-left corner.

Before scoring, Liverpool had many chances for their side but the finishing problem still haunts the premier league. Liverpool were back in the game through Jota, though in controversial circumstances.

Newcastle cleared a corner from Robertson from the left flank, but Hayden remained down clutching his head in the six-yard box. Liverpool played on and Mane sent a cross to the back post. Jota connected with a header from close range that Dubravka saved, but the rebound fell straight back to the forward to score on the rebound.

The Reds took the lead soon after scoring the first goal as Salah hammered home from close range. Shelvey gifted the ball straight to Mane on the edge of the Newcastle box and appeared to clip the forward.

Mane stayed on his feet and fired at the goal, only to be denied by Dubravka. The rebound fell kindly for Salah, who smashed a left-footed strike into the bottom-right corner.

The second half was pretty much on Liverpool’s side There were many chances to be seen in the half and many bad misses too but the only goal that the crowd enjoyed was the show stopper in the 87th minute from Alexander-Arnold

He latched on to a lay-off from Firmino 25 yards from goal and lined up a blast on his right foot. Referee Mike Dean did well to get out of the way before the ball exploded off the boot of Alexander-Arnold and found the top left corner past the outstretched hand of Dubravka.
