Premier League: The defending champions Man City were held off by Southampton for a draw in a PL fixture. Manchester City could only manage to hit only one shot on target. The title fight will be challenging after tour five teams improving their respective squads.

It was Man City’s draw after 30 games. While Southampton are winless in their last six Premier League games, drawing each of the last three in a row. Manchester City had an upper hand before the start with winning eight straight games against Southampton.

Southampton is in early trouble as Defender Jack Stephens needs to be substituted because of an injury. A quiet first half from both the teams.

The winless visitors started the first 45 minutes very well before the reigning champions came into the game more and more as the half went on. There’s been a lack of real clear-cut chances though and neither goalkeeper has had to make anything harder than a routine save.

In the 65th minute, a penalty for the visitors. Redmond wins the ball high up the pitch and plays it to Armstrong. He beats his man and is then brought down by Walker as he bears down on goal. Walker was shown a red card for the foul on Armstrong that to the penalty.

After a lengthy VAR check that included referee Jon Moss going to the touchline monitor, the original decision of a spot-kick and red card has been overturned. Walker stays on the pitch and has NO PENALTY.

Man City at the last minute scores a goal. Sterling finds the back of the net and it could be the winner. The ball flicked up off the post from Foden’s header and sterling puts in the rebound but the foal has been ruled out for OFFSIDE via VAR check.

It’s a brilliant point for Southampton and they could’ve potentially come away with all three after they had a penalty and Walker’s red card taken away by a controversial VAR decision. City ramped up the pressure late on and themselves saw a VAR decision rule out a late winner as Foden’s header off the post was put in by Sterling, who was adjusted to have been offisde.
