Tokyo Olympics Tennis: It was the end for Japan in the Tennis Men singles event as K. Nishikori was knocked out by N. Djokovic. There were no major upsets in the quarter-finals because all the players are equally matched. Major Upset for Japan as Naomi Osaka bows out in the 3rd round.

Men Singles:

A. Zverev (Germany) had an easy win against J. Chardy (France): [6-4] [6-1].

N. Djokovic (Serbia) knocked out K. Nishikori (Japan): [6-2] [6-0].

P. Carreno (Spain) got the better of D. Medvedev (ROC): [6-2] [(7-5)TB].

K. Khachanov (ROC) won when the dust settled against U. Humbert (France): [(7-4)TB] [4-6] [6-3].

Women Singles:

E. Rybakina (Kazakhstan) beat G. Muguruza (Spain) in 2 sets: [7-5] [6-1].

B. Bencic (Switzerland) won a hard-fought match against A. Pavlyuchenkova (ROC): [6-0] [3-6] [6-3].

M. Vondrousova (Czech Republic) won by the retirement of P. Badosa (Spain): [6-3] [0-0]. (RET)

E. Svitolina (Ukraine) beat C. Giorgi (Italy): [6-4] [6-4].
