US OPEN 2021: N. Djokovic wins easily in the first round. With Zevrev, Hurkacz, Berrettini following him. Barty, Pliskova, Bencic also through to round 2 with utmost ease.
D. Medvedev, the 2nd seed is in sublime touch as he passes the german, Koepfer, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2. The Russian was not letting down any points by converting 7 of the 17 break points he got. It will be a difficult challenge to face Medvedev.
Novak Djokovic with yet another victory. He blasted 17 aces in the match with an 87% first serve win percentage. Djokovic converted 8 breakpoints from 14 attempts. It was not a sweep but overall a good win. 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-1.
Zevrev with a blowout win against the Spaniard 6-1, 6-0, 6-3. Romas-Vinolas was on the other end of the strike. 50% breakpoint conversion rate for Zevrev while his opponent did not have a single break.
Tsitsipas and Berrettini also through with good wins. However, Hubert Hurkacz could handle the Italian to lose 6-2, 4-6, 4-6, 6-7 (6-8). Despite firing 27 serves Hurkacz was unable to convert the breakpoints opportunity. Andreas Seppi advances to the next round.
Naomi Osaka with a walkover in the second round advances to round 3.
Simona Halep wins with a straight-set result 6-3, 6-1. Passing the Slovakian challenger with 50% breakpoints conversion rate. Meanwhile, E. Svitolina beat Masarova 6-2, 7-5 to advance.
The number 1 seed from Australia Ashleigh Barty also wins her round. So many breakpoint opportunities were presented by Denmark’s Clara Tauson. But Barty could only convert 5 from 19. It was a straight-set result 6-1, 7-5.
Bencic, the Swiss star, was through beating the Italian M. Trevisan 6-3, 6-1. Not a great day for the Italian as she was constantly saving the breakpoints. The serving was up to the mark by Bencic. Which turned the game towards her.
Aryna Sabalenka saw a straight-set result as well. She beat Tamara Zidansek 3-6, 1-6. Tamara was presented with 2 breakpoints opportunities but was unable to take hold of it. On the other end, Aryna broke 4 times from the 5 he got the chance. It was an easy win for Aryna to go through to the next round.
