Chelsea: In a recent UCL clash against Juventus, Chelsea were superb at Stamford Bridge. Winning by four goals to nill, it was a grand victory. However, the game also marked two injuries of N’Golo Kante and then Ben Chilwell.
The UEFA best player runners-up, N’Golo Kante was taken off the field in the first half as a precaution for a potential knee problem. Although that can not be said true for Ben Chilwell.
Chelsea has not yet officially announced but it is looking certain that the Left-back will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Recovering from ACL injury takes very long and it can take up to two years to heal completely.
What Tuchel has said: “It worries me because he was in such a fantastic moment, like Reece on the other side. They were in the best shape they could possibly be. So strong, full of confidence, and quality.
“He was in a lot of pain and now he feels a bit better. We will have the medical examination tomorrow.”
Already struggling with the injury scare of Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz, Chelsea will now be without Ben Chilwell and N’Golo Kante against Manchester United in their next Premier League clash.
Looking for options in the squad, Chelsea has Marcus Alonso, Cesar Azpilicueta as the legit LB’s. And for change, Tuchel could also try Callum Hudson Odoi or Christian Pulisic as Wing-backs solely as attacking options. But let’s see what Chelsea does.
Apart from Chelsea, England will also be anxious to find out about Chilwell’s potential return date. The 24‑year‑old, who has impressed since joining Chelsea from Leicester in the summer of 2020, is a regular in Gareth Southgate’s squad and it would be a major blow if he were unable to take part in preparations for the 2022 World Cup.
