The most awaited series in a long time as India take on England in a 5 match test series. England looking to replicate the 2018 series while India would want to finish on a high note.

The session was shared with no extraordinary performances. The Match started with Jasprit Bumrah striking in the first over itself. Rory Burns ( 0 runs from 5 balls ) was trapped LBW. Ball pitching on the leg stump just shaping back enough hit the stumps. It was a preplanned wicket. As Burns often struggles on these types of lines. England 0/1 after 1 over. Zak Crawley joined Dom Sibley and played some classic shots through the cover region. It was pleasing to the eyes. Mohammed Siraj bowling in-swing got the inside edge off the thigh pads to Rishabh Pant. Zak Crawley ( 27 runs from 68 balls. 4 (4) ) had to depart looking very promising until then.
Joe Root was playing his shots all around the ground. He and Dom Sibley finished the session without getting any more damage.

Second Session:
The session started with a lovely cover drive from Joe Root. Dom Sibley ( 18 runs from 70 balls, 2(4) ) would soon depart trying to flick the ball finding KL Rahul on the short mid-wicket position. A loose ball from Mohammed Shami but a rare one. England 66/3 in 27.3 overs.
Joe Root was playing at his best and Johnny Bairstow came to the crease. A good partnership was building between the two. Root was continuously finding boundaries. In the 50th over, Joe Root reached his 50 with a soft single through the covers. A beautifully crafted innings so far.
In the very next over, Bairstow ( 29 runs from 71 balls, 4(4) ) was trapped LBW from an inswinger by Shami. A classic dismissal and a trademark wicket for Shami. It was originally given not out which was reviewed by Virat Kohli. He was also not too convince with his review but he took it eventually. Hawkeye showed 3 reds which meant Bairstow had to walk back. England were 138/4 at 50.2 overs.
Dan Lawrence ( 0 from 4 balls ) facing his 4th delivery was caught behind the leg side for a soft dismissal. Shami clinching his 3rd wicket. Jos Butler ( 0 from 18 balls ) never looked comfortable. He was caught behind for a duck. The ball did not swing back as expected and taking an outside edge to Rishabh Pant. England were in trouble as they lost 6 wickets with just 145 on board.
Joe Root ( 64 runs from 108 balls, 11(4) ) was trapped LBW on an outswinger pitching on the leg stumps going to hit the middle stump. He tried to flick the ball but was beaten. Shardul Thakur bowled well and deserved this wicket. Ollie Robinson ( 0 off 3 balls ) trying to pull the ball who was beaten by the pace and bounce got caught at mid-on. It was Shardul’s 2nd wicket. England were 155/8.
In the next over, Bumrah’s out-swinging yorker found Stuart broad’s ( 4 runs from 3 balls, 1(4) ) pads. He was dismissed LBW. Sam Curran was taking the bowlers on his attack. A big six over long-on and one bounce four at cow corner region against Shardul shown how he would play. He was keeping James Anderson away from the strike. But when Jasprit Bumrah found Anderson ( 1 run from 11 balls ) on strike, he was bowled by an accurate yorker on the off stump. England would be bowled out on 183. Third Session:
India came out to bat in a very positive way. Both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul looked excellent and also disciplined. Rohit Sharma with 2 boundaries. One in the 3rd man region through an outside edge and another with a cover drive. On the other end, KL Rahul managed to score a cover drive racing towards the boundary like a bullet. India finished the day with 21/0. That no loss is what India would have hoped for. The day belonged to India, especially the fast bowling unit.
