IND vs SA, India’s tour of South Africa 2021, Centurion: India take 130 runs first-innings lead. Wrapped South Africa on just 197 runs.
India were handed a collapse at the start of Day 3, Day 2 was completely washed off due to rain. Rabada struck in the fourth over of the day, caught behind the man in form, KL Rahul gets an edge to Quinton de Kock.
Ashwin didn’t stand for too long and was also dismissed by Rabada. Just after four balls of Ashwin’s dismissal, Rishabh Pant found the short leg fielder. This wicket completes a five-wicket haul for Lungi Ngidi. A slightly on leg stump Pant looking to flick the ball found a knick onto the pads and to Rassie.
South African bowlers didn’t take too long to finish the Indian innings. The visitors managed to push the score to 327 runs. Marco Jansen picked the last wicket of Jasprit Bumrah who was giving catching practice to slips.
IND vs SA: India leads by 130.
The visitors used the new ball perfectly unlike South Africa who were struggling to find the rhythm against the new ball. Bumrah struck and Elgar had to depart, a ripper.
A small but good to look at partnership was broken by Mohammed Shami. His inswinger found the inside edge of Keegan Petersen’s bat, who was batting nicely, to disrupt the stumps.
Aiden Markram would fall in a similar condition but no bat was involved this time around. The ball, however, kept a bit low and that did the trick for Shami and India. Mohammed Siraj’s first wicket on South African soil in the form of Rassie Van der Dussen caught in the gully.
The next partnership displayed the experience of Bavuma and de Kock. A 72 runs stand and a must-needed one. Lord Shardul broke that vital partnership and gave India a chance to wrap up the innings.
The tail displayed a fight but the bowling and the pitch were too much to handle. And when Shami took Bavuma’s wicket it was certainly not going to last long.
Shami completed his five-wicket haul. Lord Shardul and Jasprit Bumrah grabbed two wickets each while Siraj took one. The veteran off-spinner was wicketless.
