IPL retention list is out and it is interesting.

IPL 2022, player retention list: CSK retains MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

IPL 2022: With a total of 90 crores available to build a team, the IPL team franchise has decided their choices. CSK, DC, KKR, and MI have retained four players each. While RR, RCB, and SRH have retained three players and PBKS have chosen to select only two.

The teams had the choice to retain up to four players maximum. Out of which they could go for 3 Capped Indians (have played for India), 2 overseas, and 2 uncapped Indians. With the addition of two new IPL teams as Lucknow taken by Sanjiv Goenka group and Ahmedabad taken by CVC Capital in the recent BCCI auction, the next player’s mega-auction would be fun to watch.

List of players retained for IPL 2022.

Chennai Super Kings:

Ravindra Jadeja: 16 Crores.

MS Dhoni: 12 Crores.

Moeen Ali: 8 Crores.

Ruturaj Gaikwad: 6 Crores.

CSK team management has spent 42 Crores for this retention and still has 48 Crores for the upcoming Mega-auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Andre Russell: 12 Crores.

Varun Chakravarthy: 8 Crores.

Venkatesh Iyer: 8 Crores.

Sunil Narine: 6 Crores.

KKR also spent 42 Crores for these players and they too have 48 Crores remaining.

Delhi Capitals:

Rishabh Pant: 16 Crores.

Axar Patel: 9 Crores.

Prithvi Shaw: 7.50 Crores.

Anrich Nortje: 6.50 Crores.

Some bold moves from the Delhi side leaving Shreyas Iyer behind and Kagiso Rabada too. Going for Prithvi in place of Iyer is I think a bit weird but anyway he can be deadly. Spending 42.50 Crores and have left with 47.50 Crores. The least among all.

Royal Challenger Bangalore:

Virat Kohli: 15 Crores.

Glenn Maxwell: 11 Crores.

Mohammed Siraj: 7 Crores.

WOW! RCB doesn’t take Yuzvendra Chahal as the fourth pick. If they are thinking of buying him back, there will be plenty of teams gunning for him. Also the 2021 edition Purple Cap winner with 32 wickets, Harshal Patel is also released to the auction. They spent 33 Crores and have 57 Crores with them for the IPL 2022 Mega-auction.

Mumbai Indians:

Rohit Sharma: 16 Crores.

Jasprit Bumrah: 12 Crores.

Suryakumar Yadav: 8 Crores.

Kieron Pollard: 6 Crores.

Just a no-brainer. It is what was expected to happen. Rumors of picking Ishan Kishan ahead of Suryakumar Yadav was never possible. No complaint here. But what do you think of Pollard?

By the way, their transaction is the same as CSK and KKR with 48 Crores left.

Rajasthan Royals:

Sanju Samson: 14 Crores.

Jos Butler: 10 Crores.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: 4 Crores.

I think this is the team to look after at the auction. They will surely change their strategy and include a big Indian name alongside Sanju. Although they will continue with their youth players planning, they will come out hot in the Mega-auction with 62 Crores to spend. They have played smart with the retention.

Punjab Kings:

Mayank Agarwal: 12 Crores.

Arshdeep Singh: 4 Crores.

Are you searching for KL Rahul in this list? He has agreed to part ways with the PBKS side and rumors are have agreed to lead Lucknow. Ravi Bishnoi should be there on this list, won’t you think? Sensible retention from PBKS management. They have the most, 72 Crores, to spend at the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Kane Williamson: 14 Crores.

Abdul Samad: 4 Crores.

Umran Malik: 4 Crores.

Good to see youngsters getting the chance. But Rashid Khan could not agree with the Orange army and rumors are he trying to negotiate a deal with a newer franchise. Spending 22 Crores SRH still has 68 Crores in their bag.
