Pundit can’t believe Liverpool could seal this £62.7 million deal.

Premier League: Liverpool eyeing Arnaut Danjuma move.

Premier League: Liverpool are lining up a move for Arnaut Danjuma for around 62.7M pounds. Kevin Philips hints Liverpool that spending 65 on Arnaut could easily backfire.

As reported by the Athletic‘s David Ornstein yesterday (7 January), Liverpool are monitoring Danjuma following his impressive start to life at Villarreal.

Ornstein claims the winger’s contract contains a £62.7million (€75million) release clause – which can be activated by interest parties at any time until 2026.

Phillips insisted that figure is “an awful lot of money” and suggested £45million is a much fairer valuation.

The ex-striker cited the reported £73million signing of Jadon Sancho – claiming that deal has “backfired” on Man United.

“That’s too much, for me,” Phillips told Football Insider‘s, Dylan Childs.

“£65m for a player who has only had two good seasons is an awful lot of money.

“Spending that sort of money can easily backfire, and I think we’ve seen that with the Jadon Sancho deal at Man United. Liverpool can certainly learn lessons from that deal – because it clearly hasn’t worked out yet.

“I’d be slightly concerned if I were to pay that sort of huge transfer fee. He’s a good player, don’t get me wrong. If you could get him for around £45m then that would be more like it, but £65m is just too much.”

Danjuma has netted nine goals in 18 games for the Europa League holders this term, including four strikes in six games in the Champions League.

Liverpool sits 11 points adrift of league leaders Man City after 20 games.
