RR vs SRH 2021: Jason Roy and Kane Williamson show their class in a stunning victory over the Royals. Sanju Samson’s effort again falls short. RR’s bowling got a rough beating today, not coming anything together for them.
RR vs SRH 2021: RR innings in a nutshell.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Rajasthan skipper, Sanju Samson(82), held the innings from the front. Other notable performances include Yashasvi Jaiswal(82) and Mahipal Lomror(29*).
Losing Evin Lewis early, the partnership between Jaiswal and Samson found a rhythm. Spectacular striking from both ends maintained the run rate as well as froze the wicket column.
Liam Livingstone failed to replicate the first match magic. The mysterious Rashid khan worked his magic against Liam Livingstone. Riyan Parag was a golden duck out on the very first ball trying to smash the ball over long-off.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was economical while Rashid and Holder too bowled well. Siddharth Kaul having gone for 32 in his first three overs, returned at the death to only give four runs. With that finishing, the Rajashtan innings to 164/5.
SRH fights with intent to stay alive.
Chasing is not easy as seen from the past few encounters. However, Hyderabad chased it nicely. Jason Roy(60) in particular was aggressive and innovative as well. With the power he possess, it was quite easy for him.
After Lomror getting the first breakthrough, Kane Williamson joined Roy at the crease. It was then fireworks from both ends. SRH looked in a hurry to close off the match and that is what they did.
Skipper remained unbeaten at 51 with Abhishek Sharma on the other end supporting him. They win the match by 7 wickets.
Nothing impressive in the bowling department. However, Mahipal Lomror’s part-time bowling was positive for the Royals.
Post Match interviews, RR vs SRH 2021.
Abhishek Sharma.
Abhishek Sharma says that it was a big opportunity for him today and he was waiting for it. Mentions that he is happy that he could help his team today. Also adds that he just wanted to stay on the crease for as long as possible and managed to do that. About his skipper, he mentions that Kane gave him a lot of confidence and that was very helpful and calmed his nerves.
Sanju Samson.
He says that it was a decent score and the wicket had a sticky bounce but they could have got 20 odd runs more. Mentions that they kept losing wickets here and there in the middle but they got to the target they planned in the time-out. Informs that they need to work on their batting and bowling as in tournaments like these, the margin of error is less.
Kane Williamson.
He says that it’s a good feeling and they have got some clarity in roles as well. Mentions that it’s nice to be back to winning ways. Tells that there were a few periods that were significant and they closed nicely with the bat. Adds that to get off the start with the bat like that wasn’t easy but it’s nice to finish with a win. Adds that in whichever team Roy plays, he brings something with the bat and it’s nice to see him do well. Mentions that they have got time to recover before their next game and they need to make some adjustments. End by saying that Chennai is always a tough team to beat but they will focus on their game.
Jason Roy.
The Player of the match, says that he is really grateful for the opportunity and he waited patiently. Adds that they had some incredible individual performances today and is happy to get over the line. Adds that the wicket was not the easiest to bat on and he had to adjust early on. Mentions that Saha’s blitz at the start helped him settle in. Adds that for the next match they need to keep their feet grounded and keep doing the basics as Chennai are a very difficult team to beat.
Considering the chances.
Rajasthan Royals.
They are sitting at 6th place with eight points joined with Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings. All the teams have 4 matches remaining to qualify for the playoffs. RCB, CSK, and MI are the top three teams and the next three opponents of RR. With KKR being the last opponent. What do you think as a RR fans?
Sunrisers Hyderabad.
SRH are the last on the table with 4 points. They have to win all their matches and hope that one of the teams in front gets loose. They will also be facing the top 3 teams with KKR being the fourth. I see a very slim or no chance for SRH to qualify, but they can definitely help one of the teams in the mix to qualify.
Tough task ahead as the front runners will be keen to seal the playoff spot ASAP.
What can be better?
For RR Kartik Tyagi when available is a no-brainer. While Shreyas Gopal in for Rahul Tewatia is also a legit option. I don’t see any other things to change, they are quite balanced.
For SRH, Abhishek looked a bright choice ahead of Kedar Jadhav. David Warner will be a nightmare to handle if he finds his touch in the practice.
