NBA, Warriors vs Clippers: Taking a dub in against the Lakers, Golden State Warriors takes down Clippers 115-113. Having a quiet night the earlier game, Stephen Curry(10 rebounds) pours down 45 points with the help of 8 three-pointers.
The visitors were really looking passive however held their nerves together till the final minute. In the absence of Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers struggling to find that momentum.
The first six minutes of the quarter were fairly equal with both teams not far away from one another. The host were on fire draining six three from eight attempts and getting 18 points from those behind arc shots from a total of 22 points scored.
Organized defense and Curry’s whenever he wants shot, Warriors gained 17 points lead. Dropping 25 points in the first quarter alone, Stephen Curry had a 9 for 9 perfect shooting quarter which includes 5-5 three-pointers. To add more value to that stint he also had a block, a steal, an assist, and two rebounds as well.
Having a similar situation for the Bucks just earlier, Clippers unlike that game, bounced back stronger. With Paul George(29 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists) and Eric Bledsoe(22 points) pushing their team hand in hand with the Warriors. Clippers closed the half with a point lead in their favor, outscoring by 18 points.
The third quarter was of a similar kind with the Clippers extending their one-point lead to add another two making it a three points lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
STATS TO LOOK: Warriors outperform Clipper in total rebounds with 53-38 in their favor. But baffling with 21 turnovers against Clippers’ seven. Finishing with 51.8% FG and 48.4% 3P, the Warriors were well ahead in that department as well.
Four minutes into the fourth quarter, the Clippers were leading by 8 points. However, GSW took the lead with a 9-0 run. It was then an up and down affair as they exchanged leads.
With the game seemed fairly equal, Curry having frozen in the second and the third quarter daggered with a long 30-footer three and a quick three from the hash to take advantage to themselves.
Just 11 seconds to the buzzer and Warriors led by 4 points, when PG13 responded with a three, making it a one-point game with five seconds to go. Zubac taking the free throw had to miss on purpose and in that hustle, GSW got away with the time ran out before PG13 can release the ball.
