Pro Kabaddi League season 8, 03/02/2022: In the recent Maharashtrian derby, Puneri Paltan takes down their rival U Mumba by two points, 36-34.
It was a high-scoring game and a tight one too. The game was running smoothly until U Mumba gave Paltan their first all-out on the 12th minute. A solo dash from Fazel Atrachali was enough to take advantage.
However, as halftime approached Paltan found their way back into the game and it was the raiders who brought them back. Aslam Inamdar was gunning on every raid and scoring consistently. It was only a one-point game at the break in Mumba’s favor.
The lone player to finish the game with a double-digit score was Ajith Kumar with a super-10. Although he had 10 points, he was silent in the last 10 minutes of the game where he was most needed.
In the second half, Paltan sparkled first with some tough defending and fantastic raiding. It was Mohit Goyat with 9 raid points and Aslam Inamdar with 7 raid points. Nitin Tomar is not raiding much his first raid came in the second half. Though his leadership is commendable and holds his team efficiently.
U Mumba from the past couple of years are known for their defense but in this particular season, they are a mess. Their star, Fazel is lacking sharpness and also the other defenders are not that experience. Paltan outscored them 11-8 in tackle points. Rinku gathered three tackle points while Sunil Siddhagavali made two tackles.
Abinesh Nadarajan finished with four tackle points and two super tackle points for the Paltan’s. He was supported by Sombir with three points.
Puneri Paltan has made it 2-0 in this season over U Mumba. And after the return of Nitin Tomar, they are competing fiercely.
