Jorginho wins UEFA player of the year

UEFA announced the Champions League groups on Thursday. With easy-going for most of the contenders. They also announced the winners of the UEFA awards.

Men’s player of the season:
Jorginho gets the men’s player to the season award. The 29-year-old, who last season became only the tenth player to win a European Cup and a EURO in the same year.

Coach of the season:
Chelsea’s coach Thomas Tuchel gets the coach of the year award after winning the UCL 2021. Tuchel becomes the second German winner after Hansi Flick claimed the inaugural award for 2019/20.

Forward of the season:
Erling Haaland was awarded the title of forward of the season. The 21-year-old, the competition’s top scorer last term, become Norway and BVBˈs first recipient of a UEFA award.

Midfielder of the season:
N’golo Kante won the midfielder of the year award yesterday. The French international, 30, after a remarkable campaign that concluded with Player of the Match performances in the semi-finals and final.

Defender of the season:
Manchester city’s player Ruben Dias got the defender of the year award. The Portuguese center-back, outstanding in his first season in England.

Goalkeeper of the season:
Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy has been named Goalkeeper of the Season for the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League. The French-born Senegal international, 29, cap a remarkable rise from unemployment just seven years ago.

women’s player of the season:
Barcelona and Spain midfielder, Alexie Putellas won the women’s player of the season award.

Putellas, who lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy in May as Barcelona captain, finished ahead in the voting, conducted by a panel of leading coaches and journalists.

Coach of the season:
Lluis Cortes won the coach of the season award. Cortés, who led Barcelona to UEFA Women’s Champions League success and a Spanish domestic double.

Forward of the season:
Jenni Hermoso has been named the 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Champions League Forward of the Season at the UEFA Awards ceremony in Istanbul. Hermoso finished as a joint-top scorer on six goals with Chelsea’s Fran Kirby as Barcelona won the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time.

Midfielder of the season:
Alexia Putellas has been named the 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Champions League Midfielder of the Season at the UEFA Awards ceremony in Istanbul.

The engine in Barça’s midfield, whether on the left, as a playmaker or assigned to be marauding forward, Putellas lifted the trophy as captain after the 4-0 final win against Chelsea in May.

Defender of the season:
Irene Paredes has been named the 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Champions League Defender of the Season at the UEFA Awards ceremony in Istanbul.

The Spain center-back captained Paris Saint-Germain to the Women’s Champions League semi-finals, as well as the French title, ending Lyon’s five-year reign as European champions in the last eight before being pipped by Barcelona – the club that Paredes then joined this summer.

Barcelona’s Sandra Paños has been named 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season at the UEFA Awards ceremony in Istanbul.

Paños was typically assured as Barcelona won the Women’s Champions League for the first time last season, keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea’s all-star attack in the Gothenburg final as her side won 4-0.
