Ronaldo‘s brace helps Manchester United to a 4-1 win over Newcastle. He scored just before the half-time whistle from very close-range before Manquillo pegged them back in the second half. Newcastle was the only level for six minutes though before Ronaldo got his second, hitting the shot through Woodman’s legs. Fernandes fired in a third from the edge of the D before Lingard wrapped things up in stoppage time after coming off the bench.
Manchester United has only lost one of their 27 home games against Newcastle in the Premier League (W18 D8), while they have now won five consecutive home games against them for the first time in the competition.
Steve Bruce has lost 12 of his 13 games as a visiting manager at Old Trafford in the Premier League (D1), including all three in charge of current club Newcastle. His teams have scored a combined six goals in this run while conceding 33 in return.

Newcastle could only penetrate the United defense once in the first half and score a goal. They had plenty of chances to score but there was a lack of finishing touch in the process to score.
Manchester United was very sharp in attack. They were able to finish almost every move they created. Ronaldo’s return marked a good performance for the team. The Portuguese were very excited and keen about his role at the club.
Old Trafford erupted as Ronaldo celebrated with his traditional ’SIUUU’.
Now, though, close-up footage of Ronaldo’s goal and celebration has emerged – and it’s spine-tingling.
After smashing the ball past Woodman, Ronaldo wheels away in front of the camera on the touchline before performing his ’SIUUU’.
But he wasn’t alone.
The footage captures the majority of the 72,732 supporters inside the Theatre of Dreams all shouting ’SIUUU’ in unison as Ronaldo celebrates.
It really is magnificent.
We will no doubt see Ronaldo producing his famous celebration plenty more times between now and the end of the season.
But where does Ronaldo’s ‘SIUUU’ celebration come from?
Well, we’ll let him explain.
“I started to say ‘si’, it’s like ‘yes when I was in Real Madrid,” he said in a 2019 interview.
“When we would win, everyone would say ‘siiiii’ and so I started to say it. I don’t know why, it was natural.
“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea [in 2013] and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration.
“I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest. Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they’re like ‘Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuu’.
“I’m like ‘wow! People are reminded of me because of it!’ So it’s good, and I’ll continue doing it like that.”
